Kelly Osbourne’s weight loss has been a big accomplishment for her. Over the years she has had a hard time with the tabloids criticizing her about her weight. She has been called ugly and fat by the press for a large portion of her life. I never like when publications criticize teenagers and young celebrities about how they look or if they are over weight. It can really have a negative effect on their self-esteem. I think it is OK to be criticized for the body of work you put out but not for your appearance.
It was sad for me to read in a Shape magazine interview Kelly saying, “I was called fat and ugly in the press almost my entire life”. The press can go to far with young people. The 26 year old also said “I understand that being judged by others comes with the territory, but it broke my heart and ruined my self-esteem. It sets you up to hate yourself in a huge way. I was so angry about the things people said about me. I truly believe it’s the main reason I turned to Vicodin (prescription painkillers) and ended up in rehab three times. I just hated myself.”
How did Kelly Osbourne Gain the Weight
Kelly gained the weight by eating mostly pizza and french fries all day. She felt tired and exhausted all the time and blamed her bad eating to the fact that she was an emotional eater and was using food to make herself feel better whenever she would get upset. Since she no longer uses alcohol and drugs she turned to food and kept gaining weight until she signed up for Dancing with the Stars.
How Kelly Osbourne Lost the Weight
Louis van Amstel was Kelly’s dancing partner in Dancing with the Stars and he had a very positive effect on her life when it came to her diet. Louis started teaching her how to eat. He explained to her that she should be eating turkey burgers and salads instead of pizza and french fries. He taught her the benefits of a low-carb, high-protein diet and how that would help her lose weight and stay energized all day long.
The combination of a low-carb, high-protein diet with all the dancing made the weight come right off. She lost almost 20 pounds during the show. But when she stopped dancing she started to gain her weight back and so she hired a trainer and started a new exercise program.
Kelly Osbourne’s Exercise Program
She takes exercise classes with her friends for motivation and performs plyometrics. Plyometrics is a high intensity jump style training, similar to jumping rope but can be performed in many different fun and interesting ways. I’m glad about Kelly Osbourne weight loss. It shows that there is no one way to lose weight. You have to education yourself about exercise and diet and then find a program that works for you. Congratulations to her for the lifestyle changes and don’t quit if you’re trying to loss weight and increase your energy. If she can do it so can you. Plyometrics worked for her and may work for you too.
