Ryan Reynolds Workout for The Green Lantern

Everyone wants to know what was Ryan Reynolds Workout routine for his upcoming movie The Green Lantern. In case you haven’t noticed, Ryan is buff! This guy is one of the fittest movie stars in the business and has the best abs in Hollywood.

The Green Lantern is a very anticipated movie coming out in 2011. Ryan Reynolds is one of the stars and had to get in incredible shape to play the super hero.

Ryan Reynolds Workout Routine for Green Lantern:

Ryan’s trainer Bobby Strum said in an article from WebMD “we worked out seven days a week, 90 minutes a day, and never did the same workout twice”.

It wasn’t easy getting in top shape for the Green Lantern movie. It took him six months. Since Ryan worked out  every day for 90 minutes he had to train different body parts so he could recover from his workouts and keep the intensity up. Ryan spent a lot of his time working with dumbbells and training his core strength.

Bobby said “We’d do legs one day, no legs the next. Abs one day, then no abs or minimal abs the next day. One muscle group would recuperate while we engaged other muscles”.

When Ryan was really tired he would do Pilates or yoga. Sometimes when he would have to spend most of the day in a harness on the set his trainer would just use a foam roller on him or have him stretch.

Ryan also had to train for the fight scenes in the movie, so he did kickboxing and functional type training in order that he could perform some of his own stunts.

Ryan Reynolds Weight and Body Fat for The Green Lantern Movie:

Ryan weighed in at about 200 lbs and 8% body fat for the Green Lantern movie. I have always found that you have to get your body fat down below 9% to really see your abs. Remember he had to look like a super hero so he wanted to put on some size. When he was in the move The Proposal he weighed only 180 lbs and was at about 11% body fat.

Ryan Reynolds Diet for Green Lantern:

Ryan knows that to look good on film you have to get your body fat very low so how he eats is just as important as how he trains.

Ryan’s trainer cooked for him six days per week. He ate a lot of 97% fat free ground bison, broccolini, marinara sauce, brown rice,  pasta, ground turkey and grilled salmon.
